Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Avondale, AZ is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Overnight Veterinary Technician to join our team!

Position: Emergency Veterinary Technician

Work Schedule: Full-Time; Overnights; 4 - 10hr shifts

Pay: $21.00 - $30.00 / hr.
This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through the CareerTrax leveling system.

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked during nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum. For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.50 Shift Differential

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients and operate anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique, including patient positioning.
• Understand normal ranges of patient vital signs, including heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, alerting Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and durations.
• Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in peripheral vessels proficiently.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train other team members, demonstrating patience and empathy to address client concerns.
