Job Summary

Maryland Veterinary Surgical Services (MVSS) is a busy single-surgeon owner-operator practice located in Catonsville, MD. The schedule consists of Monday-Wednesday 7:00p-7:00a. The right candidate will have at least 5 years of ER or surgical experience. RVT/CVT preferred. Expected skills of the candidate include: PACU care, IVC maintenance, IVF/PO/SQ/IV/IM medication administration, animal husbandry, maintain treatment sheets and medical records, and provide excellent patient and client care. The candidate is expected to perform in-house treatments, perform basic reception skills when needed, perform occasional skin suture removal, and assist in maintaining an efficient workflow.

Responsibilities and Duties

• place/maintain IV catheters
• draw blood, run in-house blood samples (Heska machines), submit laboratory samples to Antech
• recover anesthesia
• fill prescriptions
• calculate drug dosages and draw drugs
• administer PO, IV, SQ and IM medications
• maintain treatment sheet and medical records
• assist in hospital cleaning, stocking and maintenance
• maintain controlled drug log
• accurate EMR input

Qualifications and Skills

• 5 years of veterinary technician experience - mandatory
• surgical, ICU, or ER experience - mandatory
• specialty surgical experience - preferred
• registered veterinary technician in any state - preferred
