Veterinary Ophthalmology Technician – Houston, TX

Eye Care for Animals, a Thrive Pet Healthcare partner, is seeking a full‑time Veterinary Technician specializing in ophthalmology.

Job Overview

The Veterinary Technician will perform a variety of patient care and customer service tasks including animal handling, pre‑ and post‑operative care, laboratory procedures, anesthesia monitoring, surgical assistance, medication preparation, and client communication. The role also involves creating and presenting financial options, accurately entering service charges into the client processing database, and ensuring compliance with all operational protocols.

Qualifications
  • Previous veterinary technician/assistant experience required.
  • Licensed Technician preferred, but not required.
  • Proficient in IV catheter placement, blood work, and IV, IM, and SQ injections.
  • Proficient in monitoring anesthesia and working with various monitoring equipment.
  • Team player.
  • Eager to learn, self‑motivated.
  • Enjoys a challenging and fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills (email, uploading/downloading files, typing, etc.).
  • Ability to multitask with a smile.
Compensation

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience; the actual rate will consider skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
