Job summary

Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care (PVESC) is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician for our Ophthalmology department in a full-time role. You will work with specialists to provide high-quality care, supporting medications, monitoring equipment, and coordinated procedures across departments.

The position emphasizes patient safety, accurate record-keeping, and adherence to safety protocols. A valid LVT/CVT/RVT license and the ability to lift 35–45 lbs are required, with

  • Licensed veterinary technician (LVT/CVT/RVT) in good standing or experienced assistant.
  • Ability to lift 35–45 lbs and assist mobility of larger patients.
  • Strong organizational and teamwork skills with good time management.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately draw up, calculate, and administer medications while ensuring patient safety.
  • Operate and maintain monitoring equipment; troubleshoot as needed.
  • Perform daily/weekly maintenance of anesthesia and imaging equipment.
  • Coordinate daily procedures across departments.
  • Uphold safety, infection control, and OSHA protocols.
  • Maintain accurate treatment and anesthesia records as patient advocate.

Compensation

Pay range $25-$34/hour , commensurate with experience and licensure

What You’ll Do

As a Licensed Veterinary Technician in our Ophthalmology department, you ll work closely with specialists and clinicians across departments to deliver accurate, high-quality care. In this role, you will:

  • Accurately draw up, calculate, and administer medications , maintaining patient safety
  • Utilize and maintain all monitoring equipment and troubleshoot when needed
  • Perform daily and weekly maintenance of anesthesia and imaging equipment
  • Coordinate daily procedures across all departments
  • Uphold standards related to safety, infection control, and OSHA protocols
  • Serve as a patient advocate , maintaining accurate treatment and anesthesia records
Who We’re Looking For
