Job summary

Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care (PVESC) is seeking an Oncology Veterinary Technician to support our oncology team through diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up with compassionate care for pets and families.

Responsibilities include administering medications, assisting with diagnostics (labs, imaging, CT), and maintaining accurate records. Collaboration with Internal Medicine, Surgery, Radiology, and other specialty teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Must be a licensed/credentialed veterinary technician or experienced veterinary assistant.
• Oncology or specialty medicine experience preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills required.

About PVESC

bringing expanded specialty services, new opportunities, and an exciting next chapter for our team.

What You ll Do

• Administer medications and chemotherapy under oncologist supervision
• Assist with diagnostics, including laboratory work, imaging, and CT
• Support oncology appointments, patient flow, and scheduling
• Assist with our radioactive I-131 program for hyperthyroid cats
• Maintain accurate medical records, treatment notes, and drug logs
• Educate and communicate compassionately with clients
• Collaborate with Internal Medicine, Surgery, Radiology, and other specialty teams
• Provide patient-centered care and support throughout treatment

What We re Looking For

• Licensed/credentialed Veterinary Technician or experienced Veterinary Assistant
• Oncology or specialty medicine experience preferred
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
• EzyVet or SmartFlow experience a plus
• Compassionate, positive, and team-oriented approach

Schedule & Compensation

• Full-time, 4-day work week
• Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 6:30 PM, with one weekday off
• Weekends off
• Schedule based on current hospital needs discussed during interview
• Occasional holidays required
• $25 $38/hour, based on experience
• Up to $5000.00 sign on bonus based on experience and credentials
