Veterinary Technician Lead - ER - 2nd shift

Pieper Memorial in Middletown, CT is seeking a passionate Veterinary Technician Outpatient ER Shift Lead to develop and elevate our team! If you love ER and aspire to advance in a leadership role, this is the place to start.

At Pieper, our vision is simple: to make the community—and the animals and people happier and healthier. If that mission resonates with you, we would love the opportunity to connect.

What to Expect:

  • Commitment to Continuing Education: We want to retain and develop our talent to the best of our ability. You can expect numerous in-house CE opportunities, and any mentoring available to support and achieve your VTS goals.
  • Career Advancement: We pride ourselves on recognizing top talent and strong work ethic and if you demonstrate those things, you can expect to be promoted from within.
  • Environment of Belonging: With so many specialties at your fingertips, it’s easy to find where you fit. We also promote an environment of inclusivity so that everyone feels welcome.
  • Environment of Collaboration: Our VECCS Level 1 Certified hospital includes specialists in Emergency & Critical Care, Neurology, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Surgery and Exotics and a full staff of experienced Emergency and Primary Care Veterinarians. With the support of their technicians, assistants, and liaisons the hospital teams work closely together to deliver the highest quality of care.

About You:

The Outpatient Lead is responsible for the day-to-day operations of their assigned shifts and team members. The ideal candidate for this role is someone with great verbal and written communication skills and is comfortable navigating basic problem-solving and conflict resolution. Passionate about education and the success of their team members, this individual will assist and oversee all training, collaborate with managers for progress updates, and uphold a positive and encouraging atmosphere for their teammates while maintaining the highest commitment to patient care.

These responsibilities are in addition to maintaining the roles and duties of a veterinary technician on the clinical floor.

Anticipated Schedule:
This is a full-time position.
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday / 10-hour shifts.
Weekends and Holidays are required.

Compensation:
$26.00-$35.00 an hour dependent upon experience and education.

What’s in it for you?

  • Competitive paid time off & holidays
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Mental Health Focused Services
  • 401(k) plan with strong employer match

  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.
  • Veterinary experience in a busy 24-hour practice is preferred but not required
  • Must be available for flexible shifts, 1 weekend shift per week is required.
