Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Sarasota, FL seeks a knowledgeable Veterinary Technician for our Internal Medicine department. You will liaise between internists and clients, reviewing histories, care instructions, lab results, and updates.

You will handle calls, emails, and in-person conversations while assisting with endoscopy, ultrasound, x-rays, and medication dispensing. The role requires strong anesthesia and phlebotomy skills.

Qualifications

• Strong anesthesia and phlebotomy skills are required.
• Experience with internal medicine procedures is preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients and veterinarians.

Responsibilities

• Set up and monitor anesthesia and CRI.
• Assist with ultrasound and endoscopic procedures.
• Discharge patients and provide client education.
• Perform radiology procedures and obtain lab samples.

Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Technician to join their fast-paced I nternal M edicine department.

Pay: $20.10 - $40.00 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system

Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 8a-7p and Thursday 9a-4p

As an Internal Medicine Veterinary Technicians, you are a liaison between our internists and our clients regarding patient histories, care instructions, lab results, patient updates, and other topics as requested by the doctors. You will be involved with client contact through phone calls, email, and in person conversations. Additionally, you will be assisting with endoscopic and ultrasound procedures, filling prescriptions, taking x rays , and obtaining lab samples. Strong anesthesia and phlebotomy skills required.

As an IM Veterinary Technician, you will...

• Set up constant rate infusions (CRI).

• Calculates all medical math including advanced and CRI (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc. ).

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia

• Set up for ultrasound and radiology procedures.

• Set up and assist with endoscopic procedures (GI, nasal, urinary, airway). Clean and maintain equipment following procedure.

• Discharge IM patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as insulin injection, SQ fluid, and feeding tube demonstrations.

• Additional job duties as assigned.
