Job summary

Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in Hillsborough, NJ, seeks a Veterinary Technician (Internal Medicine) to join a collaborative team. The role offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus and a $30–35/hour salary, with a full-time rotating schedule.

You will support complex cases, manage diagnostics, and contribute to high‑quality patient care in a 24/7 specialty setting. Ideal candidates have Internal Medicine experience, strong pharmacology knowledge, and a patient‑centered approach.

Qualifications

  • Licensed, Certified, or Registered Veterinary Technician preferred, or a Veterinary Technician with Internal Medicine experience.
  • Minimum two years of Internal Medicine experience preferred.
  • Strong technical skills in IV catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, and medication administration.
  • Experience with laboratory testing and advanced diagnostics in Internal Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care for Internal Medicine patients across diagnostics, treatment, and recovery.
  • Assist veterinarians with advanced medical procedures and patient treatments.
  • Place IV catheters, perform drug calculations, and administer medications safely.
  • Monitor anesthesia and support patients during procedures.
  • Perform in-house labs and prepare samples for outside labs.
  • Assist with radiology, ultrasound, ECG, and vital sign monitoring.
  • Record patient histories, vital signs, and weights; educate clients.
  • Provide hospital-wide nursing care for inpatients and maintain medical records.
  • Participate in rounds and collaborate on patient care plans.

Schedule: Rotating schedule: Week 1: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM–6:00 PM | Week 2: Tuesday–Friday, 8:00 AM–6:00 PM

In your day-to-day, you will:
  • Deliver exceptional nursing care for Internal Medicine patients throughout diagnostics, treatment, and recovery.
  • Assist veterinarians with advanced medical procedures, diagnostics, and patient treatments.
  • Place IV catheters, perform accurate drug calculations, and administer medications safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor anesthesia and support patients during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Perform in‑house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratories.
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures including radiology, ultrasound, ECG, blood pressure monitoring, and glucose monitoring.
  • Obtain patient histories, vital signs, and weights while providing client education during outpatient appointments.
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for hospitalized patients, including treatments, diagnostics, medication administration, and accurate medical record documentation.
  • Conduct pre‑admission evaluations and discharge appointments while communicating treatment plans and patient updates with clients.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and legally defensible medical records.
  • Participate actively in nursing rounds and collaborate on patient care plans.
  • Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams.
  • Contribute to a positive, team‑focused hospital culture.
What You Bring
  • Licensed, Certified, or Registered Veterinary Technician (LVT, CVT, or RVT) preferred, or a Veterinary Technician with at least five years of Internal Medicine experience.
  • Minimum of two years of Internal Medicine experience preferred.
  • Strong technical skills including IV catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, medication administration, and advanced patient nursing.
  • Experience performing laboratory testing and assisting with advanced diagnostic procedures.
  • Strong understanding of veterinary pharmacology and Internal Medicine patient care.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, computer, and multitasking abilities.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care.
