Job summary

Pieper Veterinary seeks a Veterinary Technician for inpatient nursing on 2nd shift at our VECCS Level I facility in Middletown, CT. You will fully utilize your nursing skill set within a collaborative team focused on high-quality patient care.

We value experience in restraint, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and anesthesia, with CPR, EzyVet, and SmartFlow knowledge considered a plus. 1+ year in a busy hospital is preferred, and associates degree in veterinary tech is a plus.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of nursing care experience in a busy hospital.
• Associates degree in Veterinary Technology is a plus.
• CVT license is a plus.
• Knowledge of anesthesia and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient nursing care in a VECCS Level I facility.
• Assist with scheduling, receiving, treating, and ordering medical supplies.
• Maintain high standards of patient care and client communication.

About You:

We believe veterinary medicine is truly a team sport, and we’re seeking a candidate who shares that mindset. Strong communication and multitasking skills are essential in a fast-paced clinical environment, alongside maintaining a high standard of patient care.

We are looking for a Veterinary Technician who is confident with restraint, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and anesthesia, with at least one year of experience in a busy hospital focused on nursing care. Experience with CPR, EzyVet, and SmartFlow is a plus, but not required.

Anticipated Schedule:

Schedule A:

Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday - 2pm-12am

Schedule B:

Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday - 2pm-12am

Schedule C:

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday - 2pm-12am

Holidays are required.

Compensation:

Starting at $22.50-$30.00/hour dependent upon experience + shift differential.

Requirements:

• At least 1 year or more of experience in a busy hospital, focusing on nursing care.
• Associates degree in Veterinary Technology is a plus.
• CVT license is a plus.
• Knowledge with Anesthesia and monitoring.
• Knowledge of the procedures used for scheduling patients, receiving, treating, ordering medical supplies, and requesting laboratory tests.
• Knowledge of the use, care, and storage of veterinary instruments, materials, and equipment.
• Knowledge of sterilization techniques to sterilize various instruments and materials.
• Knowledge of the instruments, materials, and standardized procedures used in the full variety of treatments to make preparations and provide “tableside” assistance.
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing client and personal services. This includes client needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of client satisfaction.
• Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
• Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
• Must be 18 years or older to apply.
