Qualifications

• Must have current certification as a Veterinary Technician and ability to obtain Oregon certification within six months of hire.
• Demonstrated experience in animal handling and restraint in a clinical setting.
• Knowledge of drugs and medications typically used in veterinary care.
• Aseptic techniques, patient preparation and medical procedure assistance.
• Operating room procedures; anesthesia equipment and procedures.
• Record keeping procedures for patient charts.
• Lifesaving techniques for animals.
• General computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Instruct veterinary students in basic techniques and assist with surgical procedures.
• General patient care within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and related labs.
• Assist with preparation and clean-up for student laboratories across service areas.
• Support various surgical procedures on multiple animal species and ensure proper documentation.
