Veterinary Technician II - Community Clinic

The Arizona Humane Society is looking for 2 dedicated full-time Veterinary Technicians to join our non-profit veterinary clinic at our Nina Mason Pulliam South Mountain Campus with a schedule option of Monday – Thursday 7 AM – 6 PM or Wednesday – Saturday 7 AM – 6 PM. A Day in the Life:

As a veterinary technician, you will assist Veterinarians in all aspects of the clinic including surgery, laboratory diagnostics, fluid therapy, administration of medications, and client education all while championing AHS' core values of innovation, compassion, and excellence. You will work alongside the team to ensure high levels of patient care. You will be a relationship builder who collaborates with veterinarians, veterinarian technicians, and department leaders to solve problems and implement positive changes.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma OR GED
  • Completion of a veterinary technician program OR 2 years of experience at a veterinary hospital or clinic.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to assist veterinarians in all aspects of AHS' medical services including surgery, laboratory diagnostics, fluid therapy, emergency care as necessary, the administration of prescribed medications, education and clinic asepsis.
  • Must be proficient with TPR, vaccine administration, implanting microchips, performing anesthesia, prep, fluid therapy, laboratory procedures, injections, and medication.
  • Ability to monitor vital signs of sedated and anesthetized patients in preoperative, operative, and post-operative phases.
  • Ability to intubate animals, place intravenous catheters, perform venipuncture, and administer fluids as needed.
  • Must possess excellent internal and external customer service skills.

Work Environment / Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. There may be occasional wet floors, animal noises, odors, and dander. Most time will be spent in a typical air conditioned and heated office environment.
