Job description

BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians for our busy Emergency department.

Pay and Benefits

Starting pay ranges from $20 to $40 per hour, depending on experience and advancement through our CareerTrax leveling system. Additional night shift differentials of $3.50 to $5.00 per hour are available.

Role Overview

As a Patient Care Veterinary Technician, you will:

  1. Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia, using anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
  2. Triage emergency cases, including obtaining vital signs such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
  3. Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
  4. Understand normal ranges of vital signs and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, alerting veterinarians to changes.
  5. Identify patients at risk of arrest and initiate CPR.
  6. Calculate medical dosages accurately and administer medications appropriately.
  7. Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in peripheral vessels.
  8. Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
  9. Mentor and train colleagues, demonstrating patience and empathy when addressing client concerns.
