Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brandon is hiring an experienced Veterinary Technician to work in our ICU, Emergency and Critical Care department. We offer a sign-on bonus for qualified applicants!

This role provides fast-paced, advanced medical care, anesthesia induction and monitoring, radiography and critical patient assessment, with opportunities to mentor teammates and advance through competency levels.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent medical care for hospitalized patients and perform advanced treatments and diagnostics.
• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia.
• Triage emergency cases and obtain vitals.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique.
• Monitor and interpret vital signs; alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Initiate CPR for at-risk patients.
• Calculate medical math and administer medications.
• Place feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train co-workers.
• Address client concerns.

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brandon is hiring an experienced Veterinary Technician to work in our busy ICU, Emergency and Critical Care department.

We are now offering a Sign-On Bonus for up to $1,500 for qualified applicants!

Pay: $20 - $40 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system.

As an ICU/Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Provide excellent medical care for our hospitalized patients, and perform advanced treatments and diagnostics.
• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.

• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.

• H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.

• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
