Animal House Veterinary Hospital in St. Charles, MO, is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician/Veterinary Assistant. The role is full-time, with weekday shifts and rotating Saturdays; salary is negotiable based on experience.

Qualifications

• Previous veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience is preferred.
• Hands‑on experience working in a veterinary hospital or clinical environment.
• Strong animal handling and restraint skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Compassion and empathy for patients, clients, coworkers, and yourself.
• Willingness to learn and develop professionally.
• Ability to multitask in a busy veterinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and medical procedures.
• Safely and compassionately handle and restrain patients.
• Obtain patient histories and vital signs.
• Prepare patients and exam rooms for appointments.
• Assist with diagnostic testing and laboratory procedures.
• Collect blood and other diagnostic samples as appropriate to your experience.
• Assist with venipuncture and IV catheter placement as appropriate to your skills and role.
• Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
• Prepare patients, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Assist with anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery as appropriate to your experience.
• Provide attentive nursing care to hospitalized and outpatient patients.
• Maintain accurate and complete patient medical records.
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients.
• Educate clients about medications, treatment plans, preventive care, and follow‑up recommendations.
• Keep exam rooms, treatment areas, and hospital workspaces clean, organized, and well stocked.
• Collaborate with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and other hospital team members.
