Job summary

Texoma Veterinary Hospital in Sherman, Texas is expanding its veterinary support team and seeks a Veterinary Assistant dedicated to high-quality patient care. You will assist doctors, monitor hospitalized pets, and educate clients in a welcoming setting with modern facilities.

We value teamwork, accuracy, and compassionate client service as you help with surgeries, sample handling, and daily operations.

Qualifications

• Weekend availability required.
• Previous veterinary experience preferred.
• Able to lift up to 25 pounds; assist with heavier lifting.
• OSHA safety techniques and PPE use.
• Basic math for dosages and calculations.
• Basic computer skills, including MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in medicine and surgery as needed.
• Take histories, vital signs, and weights during outpatient exams; educate clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs intraoperatively.
• Collect blood and other samples; perform in-house lab work.
• Take and develop radiographs following safety procedures.
• Handle and restrain animals as required during exams.
• Administer and monitor medications, vaccines, and treatments.
• Maintain clean, stocked, and organized exam rooms and labs.
• Communicate clearly with clients and team members about plans and concerns.
