Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Skokie, IL is looking for a Part-Time Veterinary Technician to join our team!

Position:

Emergency Veterinary Technician (CVT licensing not required) with our ER Triage department.

Work Schedule:

Part-Time; Night

Pay Range APCAI/CVTII:

$23.20 - $38.80/hour

*This pay band depends on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

Responsibilities:
  1. Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
  2. Triage emergency cases upon arrival, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
  3. Perform digital radiography with proper technique and positioning.
  4. Assist with or perform CT, endoscopy, and ultrasonography.
  5. Understand normal ranges of vital signs and alert veterinarians to changes.
  6. Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
  7. Calculate medical math and administer medications appropriately.
  8. Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters.
  9. Place and maintain feeding tubes, drains, and line catheters.
  10. Mentor and train team members.
  11. Address client concerns with patience and empathy.
  12. Remain current on CPR guidelines; ALS and BLS certification provided at no cost.
  13. Engage with clients professionally and empathetically.
