Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our team at our East Dallas, TX location!

Position: Veterinary Technician in our Emergency department.

Work Schedule: Relief

Pay: Dependent on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

  1. Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients, using anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
  2. Triages emergency cases upon arrival, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
  3. Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
  4. Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
  5. Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, alerting Veterinarian to any changes or issues.
  6. Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
  7. Calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and durations.
  8. Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in peripheral vessels proficiently.
  9. Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
  10. Show patience and empathy when addressing client concerns.
