BluePearl Pet Hospital in Skokie, IL is looking for a Part-Time Veterinary Technician to join our team!

Position:

Emergency Veterinary Technician (CVT licensing not required) with our ICU department.

Work Schedule

Part-Time; Night

Pay Range APCAI/CVTII:

$23.20 - $38.80/hour

*This pay band depends on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

Responsibilities:

1. Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
2. Understand normal ranges of patient vital signs, including heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
3. Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs; alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
4. Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
5. Calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and durations.
6. Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in peripheral vessels.
7. Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
8. Mentor and train co-workers.
9. Address client concerns with patience and empathy.
