Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking experienced Veterinary Technicians or Assistants for our busy Emergency department. The role offers hourly pay with potential shift differentials for nights and weekends and opportunities to grow through our leveling system.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia, triage cases, perform radiographs, monitor vitals, and assist veterinarians with advanced procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience in emergency veterinary care is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia and use monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and record vitals.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique.
• Monitor normal ranges of vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Assess patients at risk and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical dosages and administer medications.
• Phlebotomy and IV catheter placement.
• Place feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train co-workers.
• Address client concerns with patience and empathy.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians or Assistants to work in our busy Emergency department.

Pay Range (VA I - RVT IV):

$21.30 - $49.15 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through CareerTrax leveling system.

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

*Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $4.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $4.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.50 Shift Differential

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
