Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Golden Valley, MN, is seeking a knowledgeable ER Veterinary Technician for a part-time role. The position offers competitive pay ranging from $22.00 to $37.00 per hour, with additional shift differentials for nights and weekends.

Responsibilities include anesthesia management, emergency triage, radiography, blood pressure assessment, and venous access. A supportive team environment and opportunities for growth are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in emergency veterinary care or high-paced hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia and use monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergencies and obtain vitals (temp, HR, RR, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and positioning.
• Calculate medications and administer via appropriate routes.
• Place IV catheters and maintain central lines if needed.
• Mentor and train other staff; support clients with empathy.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled ER Veterinary Technician to join our team at Golden Valley, MN!

We are looking for a part-time associate for this position.

Pay;

$22.00 - $37.00/hour

*This pay band is dependent on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum. For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$3.50/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$3.50/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$5.00/hr. Shift Differential

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.

Our Continuing Education Plan includes $500/year reimbursement for CVT and $750/year for VTS. The Continuing Education allowance can roll over up to $1,500 for CVT and VTS associates. Non-Credentialed, full-time Paraprofessionals are eligible for an annual CE stipend of $150. Full-time CVT associates also receive 8 hours of CE paid hours each year. Full-time VTS associates receive 12 hours of CE paid each year. Paid CE hours can be carried over year to year up to a maximum of 24 hours. Newly hired associates will receive a pro-rated amount of any CE benefit for which they are eligible.
