Job summary

Boston West Veterinary Emergency & Specialty in Natick, MA is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our 24/7 Emergency & Critical Care team. This overnight, full-time position offers a $28-$36/hour range, +$5/hour overnight differential, plus a $5,000 retention bonus.

Work alongside a collaborative team in a state-of-the-art facility with advanced diagnostics. The role emphasizes triage, critical care, anesthesia monitoring, and client communication within a high-energy emergency

Qualifications

• Emergency veterinary or critical care experience preferred.
• CVT, RVT, or LVT credentials preferred.
• Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.
• Strong technical skills including patient assessment, venipuncture, anesthesia monitoring, and nursing care.

Responsibilities

• Triage incoming emergency patients and prioritize care based on clinical condition.
• Obtain patient histories and perform initial assessments.
• Provide hands-on nursing care for hospitalized and critically ill patients in ICU.
• Assist doctors with diagnostics, treatments, and emergency procedures.
• Monitor sedated patients and assist with recovery.
• Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and lab sample collection.
• Monitor anesthesia and monitor patients through recovery.
• Deliver medications, fluids, and treatments as directed.
• Assist with diagnostic imaging and in-house lab testing.
• Collaborate with ER clinicians, specialists, and support teams.

Schedule: Full-Time | Wednesday-Friday Overnights | 7:00pm-7:00am

Compensation: $28-$36/hour + $5/hour Overnight Shift Differential + $5,000 Retention Bonus

This full-time overnight Veterinary Technician opportunity is ideal for a Vet Tech looking to use advanced clinical skills, manage complex cases, and continue growing in emergency and specialty medicine.

Compensation

• $28-$36/hour, pending skill set
• +$5/hour shift differential for hours worked between 11:00pm-7:00am

Schedule

• Overnights: Wednesday-Friday, 7:00pm-7:00am

Responsibilities

• Triage incoming emergency patients and assist with prioritizing care based on clinical condition
• Obtain patient histories and perform initial patient assessments
• Provide hands-on nursing care for hospitalized and critically ill patients in the ICU
• Assist doctors with diagnostics, treatments, and emergency procedures
• Assist with and monitor sedated procedures, including patient preparation, monitoring, and recovery
• Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and laboratory sample collection
• Monitor anesthesia and sedation and support patients through recovery
• Administer medications, fluids, and treatments as directed
• Assist with diagnostic imaging and in-house laboratory testing
• Closely monitor hospitalized and critical patients, recognizing and communicating changes in patient status
• Deliver compassionate, high-quality patient and client care
• Collaborate closely with ER clinicians, specialists, and support teams across departments

Qualifications

• Veterinary Technician experience required
• Emergency veterinary or critical care experience strongly preferred
• CVT, RVT, or LVT credentials preferred
• Strong technical skills including patient assessment, venipuncture, anesthesia monitoring, and nursing care
• Ability to stay calm, organized, and efficient in a fast-paced emergency setting
• Strong communication skills with clients and team members
• Positive, collaborative, team-first mindset
• Passion for emergency medicine and continued professional growth
• Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
