Job summary

Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists Miami offers a dynamic Emergency/ICU veterinary technician role in a 24/7 hospital. You will support veterinarians, triage, perform procedures, and monitor critically ill patients in a fast-paced environment.

The position requires 1-2 years clinical experience in specialty services; CVT/LVT/RVT licensure is preferred but not required. Surgery and anesthesia exposure is highly valued as part of our team.

Qualifications

• CVT/LVT/RVT licensure preferred, not required.
• 1-2 years clinical experience in a specialty service required.
• Surgery and anesthesia experience highly preferred.
• AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program or equivalent education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality care and educate clients.
• Assist Emergency and ICU teams to maximize productivity and patient flow.
• Perform patient assessments, triage, IV catheter placement, blood collection, and treatments.
• Monitor hospitalized and critically ill patients and communicate changes to the team.
• Administer medications, fluids, blood products, and treatments per veterinarians and Florida act guidelines.
• Operate and monitor critical care equipment and assist with emergency procedures.

We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, serving Miami-Dade County and the surrounding South Florida community.

TPHS Miami is looking for a Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency/ICU TEAM!

About You

Your Experience & Skills

• Veterinary Technician licensure (CVT/LVT/RVT) preferred, NOT required!
• 1-2 years of clinical experience in a specialty service is required
• Surgery and anesthesia experience highly preferred
• A degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is preferred; or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Role Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients
• Assist the Emergency and ICU teams to maximize productivity and maintain efficient patient flow
• Perform patient assessments, triage, IV catheter placement, blood collection, and treatment preparation
• Monitor hospitalized and critically ill patients, recognizing and communicating changes in patient status
• Administer medications, fluids, blood products, and treatments as directed by veterinarians and within Florida Veterinary Practice Act guidelines
• Operate and monitor medical equipment including infusion pumps, oxygen therapy devices, ECG monitors, and other critical care equipment
• Assist with emergency procedures, CPR, and stabilization efforts
• Communicate with clients regarding treatment plans, patient updates, medications, and Thrive Membership options
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records utilizing hospital practice management systems
• Obtain relevant patient histories and client information
• Use safe restraint techniques and uphold hospital safety protocols
• Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary treatment and ICU areas
• Mentor and support fellow team members while contributing to a positive hospital culture
