Veterinary Technician – Emergency (ER) – Encinitas, CA

Papaya Veterinary Care is looking for Veterinary Technician candidates for our ER hospital in Encinitas, CA.

We are a transformative veterinary hospital that offers an elevated level of care to both our patients (fur babies) and caregivers (clients). Our emergency hospital is close to the beautiful Encinitas coastline. Our hospital is roughly 3000 square feet, with treatment tables, exam rooms, a surgical room, and a staff break room. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist doctors/RVTs with outpatient cases and hospitalized patients
• Provide outstanding client communication and education
• Give and receive constructive feedback in real time
• Maintain a safe, clean environment
• Adapt to an ever-changing environment, handling urgent or emergent cases as they arrive
• Interact empathetically and helpfully with clients, vendors, peers, and managers
• Demonstrate solid technical skills, including blood draws, IV catheter placement, drug administration, medication calculations, pharmaceutical knowledge, and proper patient handling and housing
• Exercise sound judgment regarding prioritization, next steps, and communication with clients, vendors, and peers
• Work independently and as part of a team
• Advocate for patients by providing exceptional diagnostic, surgical, and nursing care
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years in veterinary medicine
• Comfortable with front and back-office procedures
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; organizational skills; proactive thinking; positive attitude
• Willing and able to work in a dynamic environment
• Self-starters, compassionate, team-oriented with a strong work ethic
