Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Lee's Summit, MO is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians for our fast-paced Emergency and Critical Care department. A sign-on bonus up to $3,000 is offered to qualified candidates who join our team.

The role involves anesthesia induction, monitoring, radiography, triage, and mentoring teammates while delivering compassionate care to pets and support to their families.

Qualifications

• Experience in Emergency/ICU or Critical Care preferred.
• Ability to induce, monitor and recover anesthesia.
• Proficient in veterinary radiography and patient assessment.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia using appropriate equipment.
• Triage emergencies and monitor vitals (temp, HR, RR, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with correct patient positioning.
• Understand normal vital signs and data interpretation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Identify at-risk patients and initiate CPR when needed.
• Calculate drug dosages and administer meds safely.
• Perform phlebotomy and place IV catheters.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central lines as needed.
• Mentor and train other staff; support client communication with empathy.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department at our Lee's Summit, MO location.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
