BluePearl Pet Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.

At BluePearl Pet Hospital, the role of Veterinary Technician is an exciting, fast-paced opportunity that allows you to utilize and expand your skills while working alongside talented veterinary professionals.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

  • Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients using anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
  • Triage emergency cases upon arrival, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
  • Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
  • Understand normal ranges of vital signs, including heart and respiratory rates, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
  • Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, alerting Veterinarian to changes.
  • Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
  • Calculate medical dosages accurately, including infusions, and administer medications appropriately.
  • Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in peripheral vessels.
  • Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
  • Mentor and train colleagues.
  • Address client concerns with patience and empathy.
