Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Appleton, WI is looking for an experienced Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our ER/ICU team. This 9-hour night shift (11pm-8am) includes every other weekend and a pay range of $21.00-$33.50 per hour, dependent on license, experience, and competency assessments.

You will triage emergencies, monitor anesthesia, perform radiography, assist with CT/endoscopy/ultrasonography, and mentor colleagues while maintaining client empathy and clinical excellence.

Qualifications

• Licensed veterinary technician per local requirements (licensing affects pay level).
• Experience in emergency/ICU settings preferred.
• Ability to monitor anesthesia and assist with advanced procedures.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and record vitals (temperature, heart rate, resp rate, BP).
• Perform digital radiography and proper patient positioning.
• Assist with CT, endoscopy and ultrasonography.
• Maintain knowledge of normal vital signs and act on changes with veterinarians.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and durations.

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Appleton, WI is looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician to work in our Emergency and Critical Care department .

Position: Emergency Veterinary Technician with our ER/ICU Department.

Shifts: 9-hour shift. 11pm-8am. Third shift. Every other weekend required.

Pay Range CVTI-II: $21.00 - $33.50/hour

*This pay band is dependent on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

• Weekday Night (Mon-Fri 6p to 8a): $3.50
• Weekend Day (Sat-Sun 8a to 6p): $3.50
• Weekend Night (Sat-Sun 6p to 8a): $5.00

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician , You Will:

• Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique, including proper positioning of patients.
• Assist with or perform CT, endoscopy, and ultrasonography.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert veterinarians to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes, drains, PICC line catheters, and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R (basic and advanced) CPR guidelines. ALS and BLS certification is provided at no cost to you.
• Mentor and train fellow team members and engage with clients with empathy and professionalism.

Our Continuing Education Plan includes $500/year reimbursement for CVT and $750/year for VTS. The Continuing Education allowance can roll over up to $1,500 for CVT and VTS associates. Non-Credentialed, full-time Paraprofessionals are eligible for an annual CE stipend of $150. Full-time CVT associates also receive 8 hours of CE paid hours each year. Full-time VTS associates receive 12 hours of CE paid each year. Paid CE hours can be carried over year to year up to a maximum of 24 hours. Newly hired associates will receive a pro-rated amount of any CE benefit for which they are eligible.
