Position Overview

Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care (PVESC) is a growing multi‑specialty emergency and specialty veterinary practice located in Portland, Maine. Our services include Emergency & Critical Care, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Dermatology, Neurology, Cardiology, and more.

Schedule

• Tuesday‑Friday: 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM (may vary)
• Some holidays are required

Compensation

• Starting at $27/hour, commensurate with experience and licensure

What You’ll Do

• Assist in maxillofacial examination for detailed evaluation of the teeth, oral cavity, jaws, and surrounding structures
• Prepare patients and dental equipment, ensuring safety, sterility and proper setup
• Monitor anesthesia and vital signs throughout dental and surgical procedures
• Assist with advanced periodontal procedures, endodontic therapy, prosthodontic procedures, periodontal surgery and oral surgery
• Educate clients about oral health care, post‑procedure instructions, and preventive strategies

Who We Are Looking For

• Current Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) credential in good standing
• Experience assisting with veterinary dentistry preferred
• Strong skills in anesthesia monitoring, patient handling, clinical support and dental imaging
• Excellent communication skills with team members and pet owners
• Confidence working in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment
• Familiarity with veterinary medical software (e.g., EzyVet, SmartFlow) a plus
• A positive attitude and commitment to compassionate care
