Job summary

Countryside Animal Hospital in Waupaca, WI is seeking an experienced or Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) to join our friendly team as we welcome a new DVM in November.

The ideal candidate will handle blood draws, radiographs, kennel and client service duties, and collaborate closely with veterinarians. Schedule is Tue, Thu, Fri, 10-hour shifts with no weekends or on-call emergencies; pay ranges from $15 to $19 per hour.

Qualifications

• Previous veterinary experience preferred.
• Lift patients and equipment up to 25 pounds; with assistance for heavier loads.
• OSHA safety techniques including PPE.
• Basic math for medication dosages.
• Basic computer skills (MS Office, etc).
• Strong communication skills for patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in medicine and surgery and related tasks.
• Take histories, vital signs, and weights; provide client education during outpatient exams.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor during procedures.
• Obtain blood, stool and other samples; run in-hospital lab tests and prepare specimens for outside labs.
• Take and develop radiographs following safety procedures.
• Handle and restrain animals during exams.
• Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
• Clean and restock exam rooms, treatment areas, and lab areas; assist with equipment upkeep.
• Demonstrate warmth, courtesy and professionalism in all client interactions; provide compassionate care to patients.
• Communicate with veterinarians and team about plans and concerns.
• Assist with Kennel duties and Client Service Representative duties (phones, scheduling, invoicing, education).
• Any other duties as assigned.
