Qualifications

This role supports the veterinary care of lab animals under the supervision of a veterinarian or senior technicians.

Duties include helping with preventive care (vaccines, exams, health checks), dental cleanings, and enrichment activities.

Assist with surgeries (before, during, and after), including anesthesia, pain management, fluids, antibiotics, and wound care.

Help with daily health checks, report concerns to the vet, collect samples for testing, and provide basic treatments.

Other tasks include keeping records, following safety and animal welfare rules, and maintaining clean surgical areas. Weekend, holiday, and occasional off-hours work may be needed.

Skills:

Able to spot and respond to animal health issues and emergencies.

Can give medications and use veterinary equipment.

Good knowledge of animal care and handling rules and strong communication skills.

Comfortable with MS Office and medical terms.

Education:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in animal health, veterinary tech, or related science.

High school grads with AALAS certification also welcome.

Recent grads with animal handling experience may apply.

AALAS certification is a plus but not required.
