CityVet is looking for Veterinary Technician Assistants — with a minimum of 1 year of experience — to join our team! Although previous experience in a veterinary hospital is preferred, we also have entry-level positions available. We are willing to train the right candidate!

Responsibilities

The Veterinary Technician Assistant (TA) is responsible for maintaining excellent patient care and operational productivity by helping the Veterinary Technician (VT) leverage their time and efforts to meet the needs of our clients and patients. The Veterinary Technician Assistant works to relieve the Veterinary Technician from technical work and administrative details to achieve greater efficiency in daily practice. Veterinary Technician Assistants help facilitate and streamline communication from the operating room to the front office staff and, most importantly, to the client.

Essential qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 18 years of age at the time of hire
• At least 1 year of veterinary industry experience
• Understanding and ability to properly, and safely, restrain animals
• Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and medication
• Ability to lift 50 lbs to waist height
• Frequent standing, bending, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent communication and listening skills
• Self-motivated and team-oriented

A day in the life:

• Assist the Veterinary Technician (VT) in preparing patients for medical, surgical, and dental procedures by assisting in anesthesia administration and proper restraint during examinations and treatments.
• Partner effectively with Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians to prioritize patient triage based on client and facility needs in a fast-paced environment.
• Support Veterinary Technicians with appointments, walk-ins, and work-ins, including recording observations and treatment plans, and assisting with medical treatments under supervision.
• Assist the Client Service Specialist team as needed.
