Are you passionate about animal welfare and skilled in anesthetic drug knowledge? We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Surgery Support Technician to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide surgical support, including patient preparation, monitoring, and post-surgical recovery. The candidate will also be responsible for maintaining the surgical suite and ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately.
Job Summary: The ideal candidate will perform and document basic veterinary laboratory procedures in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), protocols, and regulatory guidelines. They will monitor animal health and welfare while adhering to the principles of the Animal Welfare Act and our strong commitment to a Culture of Care, ensuring that animal well-being remains the highest priority at all times. Additionally, the candidate will have the opportunity to expand their skills and responsibilities as outlined in the attached job description.
How you will be rewarded:
Work Hours: 1st shift – M-F 6:30am-3:15pm for the first three months (After 3 months, shifts are flexible, including options for a 4 day a week/ 10 hour per day schedule).

What you will be doing:
Ensure animals are cared for according to regulatory guidelines and ethical principles.
Perform animal husbandry duties as needed.
Report and resolve animal care concerns.
Interpret and understand complex protocols.
Adhere to good research practices (GXP) principles.
Maintain client confidentiality and ensure compliance with protocols and regulations.
Perform various medical procedures on multiple species.
Conduct aseptic surgical preparation, anesthesia, and surgical procedures.
Support other departments with study-related tasks.
Train and mentor staff.
Contribute to process improvements and updates.
Review SOPs and develop new procedures.
Identify and communicate gaps for potential improvements.
*Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, OR associate degree in Life Science.
6 months in an animal-related field
An equivalent combination of education and 6 months of experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education.
Preferred Qualifications:
AALAS certification at the Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician level is encouraged but not required.
CVT preferred but not required.
