Job summary

Northcreek Veterinary Clinic in Northport, AL, is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join our small animal practice. We especially encourage Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVT) with strong anesthesia and surgical skills to apply.

Join a close-knit team of nine employees, with two veterinarians daily, as we deliver Fear Free care and prioritize communication, teamwork, and ongoing learning. Compensation is based on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

• Licensed Veterinary Technician preferred, but experienced Veterinary Assistants will be considered.
• Previous hands-on veterinary clinical experience
• Strong anesthesia monitoring skills, particularly for LVT candidates
• Surgery and dental experience preferred
• Strong patient handling and communication skills
• Dependable, organized, and comfortable taking initiative
• Team-oriented approach and willingness to share knowledge
• Interest in mentorship, continued learning, or developing leadership skills

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and surgical procedures
• Prepare patients and equipment for surgery
• Monitor anesthesia and support surgical recovery
• Perform venipuncture and IV catheter placement
• Collect and process laboratory samples
• Assist with dental procedures and patient monitoring
• Administer medications and prescribed treatments under appropriate supervision
• Safely handle and restrain patients using Fear Free techniques
• Provide nursing care and monitor hospitalized patients
• Maintain accurate medical records and educate clients on patient care
• Support hospital workflow and collaborate with teammates throughout the day
• Help train, mentor, and support less-experienced team members based on experience
