Role Overview
The Veterinary Technician will be part of a team in the swine transplant research facility, responsible for daily animal care, anesthesia, surgical support, post-operative care, animal welfare activities, equipment maintenance, and record keeping.

Minimum Requirements

• Associates Degree in veterinary technology, animal sciences, or related field
• 2+ years of large animal care and handling with an Associates Degree or
• 1+ years of large animal care and handling with a Bachelor's Degree
• 1+ years of facility and equipment maintenance
• 1+ years of data collection and record keeping
• No external interaction with pigs outside of work
• Knowledge of Animal Welfare Act and federal research regulations (USDA, FDA, DEA)
• Physical Demands: Lift 75 lbs, carry 50 lbs, push/pull 200 lbs on wheels

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in veterinary technology, animal sciences, or related field
• 2+ years performing anesthesia, medical testing, behavior observation, sample collection, medication administration to large animals
• Licensed Veterinary Technician (NAVTA licensed)
