Job summary

AcuFast is seeking an energetic Large Animal Veterinary Technician to join our swine research center near Watertown, WI. The role focuses on laparoscopic artificial insemination, oocyte recovery, and embryo transfer in pigs using sexed sorted sperm.

Responsibilities include assisting veterinarians, maintaining sterile environments, data entry, and coordinating with cross-functional teams. Experience with biosecurity and MS Office is valued; flexibility to work early mornings/weekends is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge of large animal anesthesia protocols to assist in procedures safely and effectively.
  • Support veterinarians and technicians during surgical or reproductive procedures with precision and attention to detail.
  • Maintain sterility and cleanliness in surgical environments to ensure biosecurity and animal well-being.
  • Administer medications and assist in post-procedure animal monitoring.
  • Perform technical procedures such as data entry and record-keeping.
  • Communicate with supervisor, customers and research center employees (verbal and written).
  • Monitor feed distribution, clean water, and climate control systems.
  • Conduct routine health checks, weigh pigs, and respond to signs of illness in collaboration with animal care teams.
  • Support cross-functional needs across departments when priorities shift.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality with company matters.
  • Adapt to a flexible schedule, including early mornings or weekends.
  • Perform other technical and production duties to support surgical and research programs.

We are currently interested in filling the position for aLarge Animal Veterinary Technician on a swine research center near Watertown, WI. This position will be focused on laparoscopic artificial insemination, oocyte recovery and embryo transfer in pigs using sexed sorted sperm. Large animal experience is not necessary to apply.

This position will include the following responsibilities and day-to-day functions, but is not limited to:
  • Apply knowledge of large animal anesthesia protocols to assist in procedures safely and effectively.
  • Support other veterinarians and technicians during surgical or reproductive procedures with precision and attention to detail.
  • Maintain strict sterility and cleanliness in surgical environments to ensure biosecurity and animal well-being.
  • Administer medications and assist in post-procedure animal monitoring.
  • Responsible for technical procedures such as data entry and record-keeping.
