Nutley Animal Hospital in Nutley, NJ is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our close-knit, long-tenured team. We offer a Four-day work week, rotating Saturdays, and a supportive environment focused on high-quality patient care.

As a CVT or seasoned technician, you will assist with venipuncture, IV catheters, anesthesia, and patient records while building relationships with clients and pets. Competitive pay ranges from $23 to $28 per hour depending on experience.

Qualifications

• CVT or experienced Veterinary Technician preferred.
• Small animal general practice experience desired.
• Comfort with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and anesthesia is required.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and collect blood samples for diagnostics.
• Place intravenous catheters (IVCs).
• Assist veterinarians with surgical procedures and anesthesia monitoring.
• Obtain patient histories and assist with exams.
• Monitor patients and provide compassionate care.
• Prepare and administer medications and treatments as directed.
• Conduct routine tech duties including lab work and diagnostics.
• Maintain accurate medical records and follow care protocols.

What You'll Do

As a Veterinary Technician, you'll play an important role in supporting our veterinarians and delivering high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities include:

• Perform venipuncture and collect blood samples for diagnostic testing.
• Place intravenous catheters (IVCs).
• Assist veterinarians with surgical procedures and anesthesia monitoring.
• Obtain patient histories and assist with physical examinations.
• Monitor patients and provide compassionate care throughout their visits.
• Prepare and administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
• Perform routine veterinary technician duties, including laboratory work and diagnostic procedures.
• Communicate effectively with veterinarians, teammates, and clients.
• Maintain accurate medical records and follow appropriate patient care protocols.

What We're Looking For

• Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVT) or experienced Veterinary Technicians are encouraged to apply.
• Previous hands-on experience in a small animal veterinary hospital or general practice.
• Confident with blood draws, venipuncture, and IV catheter placement.
• Experience assisting with surgery and anesthesia.
• Strong technical skills and the ability to work independently while knowing when to ask questions.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A compassionate, patient-focused approach to veterinary medicine.
• Someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys building relationships with clients and their pets.
