Job summary

Highland Animal Hospital in Needham, MA is seeking a full-time Veterinary Technician or experienced Veterinary Assistant to provide skilled patient care and excellent client service.

The position is 4 days/week with two 12-hour and two 5.5–6-hour shifts; Monday–Friday, rotating Saturday. Salary $25–$26/hour, depending on experience.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of veterinary experience is required.
• CVT certification is preferred.
• Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
• Knowledgeable about common disease states and able to alert veterinarians to changes in patient conditions.
• Familiarity with DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians with patient care, exams, surgery, anesthesia, and recovery.
• Safely handle and restrain animals with compassion.
• Communicate clearly with clients, including care instructions and status updates.
• Perform technical duties such as lab work, radiographs, injections, and IV catheter placement.
• Maintain accurate medical records and assist with medication dispensing.
• Help keep exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment clean, stocked, and ready.
• Follow hospital, safety, and regulatory guidelines at all times.

Veterinary Technician

Salary: $25 - $26 per hour,determined by the candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications.

Schedule: This is a full-time position scheduled 4 days per week, consisting of two 12-hour shifts and two 5.5–6-hour shifts. Monday - Friday shifts vary between 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., with rotating Saturday shifts from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. required.
