Job summary

Wells Dog and Cat Hospital in Wells, Maine is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join a supportive team. You will assist veterinarians with exams, treatments, and surgeries, handle animals safely, collect lab samples, and educate clients. A CVT/RVT/LVT is preferred or eligibility to obtain licensure, with no weekend or late-evening shifts in this role.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a veterinary technician or assistant.

  • AVMA-accredited program degree preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn fear-free handling and restraint.
  • Experience with rooming patients, blood draws, and running bloodwork.

Responsibilities

  • Restrain animals safely; administer medications and vaccines.

Who We're Looking For:

We're currently looking to hire an Experienced Veterinary Technician to join our team! The ideal candidate will be a dependable, detail-oriented team player who loves pets and being part of a fun, supportive team. They will have experience rooming patients, surgical assisting experience and knowledge of equipment used, drawing blood and running bloodwork, knowledge of x-rays and proper positioning, experience with proper animal handling and restraint, understanding the importance of client education, and being a positive and motivating team member.


Requirements:


  • Experienced as a Veterinary Technician

  • Knowledge of industry tools and equipment is a plus.

  • Experience working with these tools is even better

  • Passion for working with animals and their owners

  • Ability to learn proper animal handling, fear-free training, and restraint

  • Ability to learn common treatments and processes normally found in a veterinary hospital setting

  • Excellent communication and ability to gain strong organizational skills

  • Pay Range: $25.00 based on experience.

  • No weekends and no late evening shifts.


Qualifications:


  • Experience as a veterinary technician or assistant.

  • Strong animal handling skills and knowledge of clinical procedures.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT, RVT, or LVT) preferred – or eligibility to obtain licensure based on state requirements.

  • Degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program preferred but not required.
