Job summary

Lubbock Small Animal Emergency Clinic in Lubbock, TX is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join a highly compassionate team providing 24/7 emergency care for cats, dogs and exotic pets.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of experience, is a calm team player, and can multitask while restraining pets and assisting with labs, imaging, medications and client communication. Training and growth opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• 1+ year veterinary assistant experience preferred.
• Compassionate and calm team player.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinic.
• Properly restrain pets.
• Proficiency in sample collection, history taking, labs, radiographs; anesthesia monitoring a bonus.
• Self-starter with desire to grow professionally.

Responsibilities

• Triage incoming patients and assist during emergencies.
• Collect and analyze lab samples; perform diagnostic imaging as directed.
• Provide nursing care and manage medical/hospitalized cases.
• Administer prescribed medications and communicate treatment plans to clients.
• Assist in surgical preparation and anesthesia management.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and compassionate care environment.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

• An experiencedVeterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.
• Compassionate andcalmteam-player.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, andanesthesia monitoring are a bonus!
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.

Additional Information

Pay Range: $16.50/hr and up depending on experience level. Increase in hourly pay after introductory training is complete.
