Job summary

Animal Eye Center of New Jersey in Little Falls, NJ is seeking an Experienced Veterinary Technician to join our AAHA-accredited ophthalmology team. The role emphasizes patient care, anesthesia monitoring, and high standards of surgical hygiene.

Compensation ranges from $24 to $28 per hour, based on experience. The position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including 401(k) with matching, health/dental/vision, HSA/FSA options, and paid time off.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT) or Experienced Veterinary Technician with at least two years of experience, dedicated to outstanding client service and excellent patient care.
  • Dedicated to maintaining a positive, respectful, uplifting hospital culture and genuinely love working with people that share that value.
  • Knowledge of how to adapt to the individual needs of each patient and making a difference in patients' lives.
  • Clinical skills and experience required: safe patient restraint, phlebotomy and catheter placement, radiology safety and technique.

Responsibilities

  • Administers medication and monitors patients during surgical procedures, including pre- and post-op care and anesthesia recovery.
  • Facilitates outpatient patient care for surgeons—consults and rechecks.
  • Performs IV, IM and SubQ injections, IV catheter placements, and advanced tech skills.

Job Description

Our Veterinary Technicians are vital members of our veterinary team, applying their expertise with a high degree of autonomy. They skillfully calculate and administer induction medications, monitor anesthesia for patient safety, and provide attentive postoperative care. Additionally, they ensure the highest standards of surgical hygiene by cleaning, sterilizing, and organizing instruments. Through collaboration with veterinarians and ongoing training, they continually expand their skills in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities Include (but not limited to):
  • Administers medication and manages/monitors patients during surgical procedures—including pre and post op care and anesthesia recovery.
  • Facilitates patient care of outpatient appointments for surgeons—consults and rechecks.
  • Performs IV, IM and SubQ injections, IV catheter placements and advanced veterinary technician skills (arterial catheter placement, epidural administration, splint placements).
  • Performs radiographs and other advanced imaging
  • Assists with all types of surgery, anesthesia, and other procedures as needed.
  • Participate in surgery team responsibilities that facilitate efficient patient care: setting up and turning over Operating Rooms, preparing exam rooms and instruments, completing daily safety and cleaning duties.
  • Communicates with clients, including financial estimates and collecting payment.
  • Interfaces with and assists other departments within the hospital as needed.
  • Other duties as needed.
