Job summary

Pets Best Friend Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join our compassionate team. This full-time role offers a 4-day work week with rotating Saturday shifts and compensation based on experience.

Qualifications

  • Previous veterinary experience appropriate to the Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant role.
  • Veterinary Technician credentials are welcome but not required for Veterinary Assistant candidates.
  • A genuine passion for pets and veterinary care.
  • Safe and compassionate patient handling and restraint skills.
  • Interest in or experience with Fear Free and low-stress handling techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and procedures.
  • Obtain patient histories, vital signs, and relevant medical information.
  • Safely handle and restrain patients using Fear Free and low-stress techniques.
  • Assist with diagnostic testing and sample collection based on your experience and training.
  • Prepare patients, equipment, and treatment areas for procedures.
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as permitted by your role, training, and applicable regulations.
  • Assist with surgical and dental procedures based on your experience and credentials.
  • Provide attentive and compassionate patient care and monitoring.
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients about their pets’ care.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough patient medical records.
  • Keep treatment and patient-care areas clean, organized, stocked, and ready for the day.
  • Anticipate the needs of our veterinarians and teammates to promote efficiency and teamwork.
  • Jump in wherever needed to support patients, clients, and coworkers.

What our Veterinary Technicians and Assistants Do

As a Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant, you’ll work alongside our veterinarians and support team to provide compassionate, efficient care for our patients and clients.
