Job summary

CyFair Animal Hospital is seeking a veterinary professional to join our team as a veterinary technician. You will restrain and triage patients, collect samples, perform imaging, assist with surgeries, and monitor anesthesia while communicating treatment plans to clients.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of veterinary experience required; CVT/RVT/LVT a bonus
• Open availability required
• Exceptional customer service and precise communication
• Ability to interpret medical records and client history
• Knowledge of preventative care, surgical procedures and hospital flow
• Ability to restrain pets in a low-stress, safe manner
• Proficient in sample collection (blood, urine, fecal, skin) and processing tests
• Proficient in radiograph positioning; dental radiographs a plus
• Proficient in anesthesia and surgical monitoring
• Self-starter and eager to advance knowledge and skills
• Willingness to receive constructive feedback to improve hospital efficiency

Responsibilities

• Restrain animals and triage incoming patients

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

• Proficient in positioning and capturing radiographs, positioning for dental radiographs are a plus
• Proficient in anesthesia and surgical monitoring
• A self-starter with the desire to continue to advance one’s knowledge and skillset
• Ability to receive in a professional manner constructive feedback to maintain hospital efficiency
