Job summary

Frontier Vet Express in Abilene, TX, seeks a dedicated veterinary professional for our walk-in care team. You’ll perform animal restraint, triage, sample collection, and nursing care across medical and hospitalized cases, with emphasis on clear client communication and safe, efficient workflows.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year veterinary experience preferred.
• CVT/RVT/LVT certification a bonus.
• Excellent client communication and record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Restrain animals in a low-stress, safe manner.
• Triage incoming patients and assist clinicians.
• Collect and process lab samples (blood, urine, fecal, skin).
• Provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases.
• Administer medications and discuss treatment plans with clients.
• Interpret and document medical records accurately.

Frontier Vet Express was created to give pet owners a unique experience while providing routine wellness care for their pets. We offerwalk-in appointmentsto allow those of us with busy schedules the opportunity to be seen as your schedule allows. Due to the fast-paced world we all live in, keeping standard appointments no longer works for many families. We want to alleviate that stress and provide you a platform to move about your day more freely, with one less appointment to keep.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications and effective communication of treatment plans with clients.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

• A high work ethic and positive attitude team member
• Ability to arrive on-time and ready to work
• A minimum of 1-year experience preferred, CVT/RVT/LVT a bonus
• Exceptional customer service skills and ability to communicate precisely
• Interpret medical records and record client history accurately
• Knowledge in preventative care and hospital flow
• Ability to restrain pets in a low-stress and safe manner
• Proficient in sample collection to include blood samples, urine, fecal, and skin
• Ability to properly set-up and process laboratory samples and tests
• A self-starter with the desire to continue to advance one’s knowledge and skillset
• Ability to receive in a professional manner constructive feedback to maintain hospital efficiency
