Job summary

Thrive Pet Healthcare in Dallas, TX is hiring a Veterinary Technician for our General Practice to work alongside veterinarians and support daily patient care. This full-time role involves anesthesia and surgical assistance, patient monitoring, and maintain accurate medical records.

You will perform lab tests, radiography, and sample collection, while providing compassionate client education and ensuring clinic protocols for safety and quality care are followed.

Qualifications

  • Has a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a veterinary technician
  • CVT/LVT/RVT encouraged to apply
  • Has experience in anesthesia and surgical assisting and post-operative care
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities (judgment, logic, creativity, conflict resolution)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to observe the behavior and condition of animals
  • Comfortable with anesthetic patient monitoring of ASA I-III (preferred experience with ASA I-V)
  • Prepare animals and instruments for surgery
  • Collect laboratory samples, such as blood, urine, or tissue, for testing
  • Perform laboratory tests, such as urinalyses and blood counts
  • Comfortable utilizing digital radiography machines to acquire images using proper technique and positioning
  • Comfortable utilizing advanced diagnostic equipment
  • Administer medications and treatments prescribed by a veterinarian
  • Collect and record patients' case histories

Responsibilities

  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
  • With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
  • Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with your state's Veterinary Practice Act outlined for credentialed veterinary technicians and assistants.
  • Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments.
  • Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
  • Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
  • Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.]

Our Ideal Candidate

Passionate about animal care, highly motivated, and pays attention to detail. Our Veterinary Technicians are the heartbeat of our team and work side by side with our Veterinarians (DVMs) during procedures. A full-time position would require working between 30-40 hours a week.



Experience & Skills Requirements
