Job summary

ATX Animal Clinic in Austin, TX is seeking a Veterinary Technician to support veterinarians in delivering medical care for small animals. You will handle safe patient care, collect samples, assist with anesthesia, and maintain accurate medical records.

You will educate clients on home care and preventive care, and contribute to a clean, well-organized clinical environment. This is a full-time, on-site position in the Austin metro area.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated skills in animal care and pet care, including safe handling, basic nursing care, and monitoring animal behavior and comfort.
  • Proficiency in veterinary technology practices such as sample collection, lab work, medical record documentation, and assisting with diagnostic procedures.
  • Experience or training in anesthesiology support, including pre-anesthetic preparation, monitoring during procedures, and post-operative recovery assistance.
  • Ability to provide clear client education on treatment plans, preventive care, and at-home pet care instructions.
  • Relevant certification or licensing as a Veterinary Technician (or eligibility to obtain), and prior experience in a small animal clinic or hospital preferred.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and time-management skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced clinical setting.
  • Commitment to compassionate, non-judgmental care for clients and their pets, and adherence to clinic protocols and safety standards.

Role Description

The Veterinary Technician is responsible for supporting veterinarians in delivering medical care to small animals through safe handling, treatment assistance, and patient monitoring.
