Job summary

Auburn Animal Center is seeking an Experienced Veterinary Technician to join our one-doctor practice. You will use your clinical skills from diagnostics through surgery and recovery, in a team-focused environment.

This full-time role offers a four-day Tue–Fri work week with no nights or weekends, competitive benefits, and opportunities for growth and continued education in a close-knit hospital setting.

Qualifications

  • Several years of hands-on veterinary technician experience in a clinical setting.
  • Strong knowledge of vaccines, anesthesia, diagnostics, and patient care.
  • Preference for LVT or CVT credential, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the veterinarian during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
  • Administer vaccines and medications as directed.
  • Perform venipuncture and collect lab samples.
  • Conduct in-house lab testing and support diagnostics.
  • Take radiographs and assist with imaging.
  • Prepare patients and equipment for surgery; assist during procedures.
  • Monitor anesthesia and patient recovery.
  • Maintain medical records and communicate with clients clearly.
  • Support pharmacy duties and medication preparation.
  • Keep treatment and surgical areas clean and organized.
  • Collaborate with the veterinary team to keep the hospital running smoothly.

What Our Veterinary Technicians Do

  • Assist the veterinarian during examinations, treatments, and medical procedures
  • Administer vaccines and medications as directed
  • Perform venipuncture and collect laboratory samples
  • Complete in‑house laboratory testing and support diagnostic procedures
  • Position patients and obtain diagnostic radiographs
  • Prepare patients, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures
  • Assist during surgery and monitor patients under anesthesia
  • Support patients throughout recovery and provide attentive nursing care
  • Perform pharmacy duties and accurately prepare prescribed medications
  • Maintain complete and accurate patient medical records
  • Communicate clearly with clients about treatments, medications, and follow‑up care
  • Reinforce veterinarian‑approved instructions and client education
  • Maintain clean, organized, and well‑stocked treatment and surgical areas
  • Collaborate with the veterinarian and support team to keep the hospital running efficiently

What Our Veterinary Technicians Bring

  • Several years of hands‑on Veterinary Technician experience in a clinical setting
  • Strong knowledge of vaccines, anesthesia, diagnostics, and patient care
  • Confidence with venipuncture, laboratory procedures, radiology, and pharmacy duties
  • Experience assisting with surgery and monitoring anesthetized patients
  • An LVT or CVT credential is preferred but not required
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
