We are seeking a Veterinary Technician with laboratory animal research experience to help set up and scale a focused program in collaboration with top scientists and engineers.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years in a research laboratory animal medicine setting.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory animal regulations and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Handle day-to-day veterinary care in collaboration with the Veterinarian.
  • Perform anesthesia monitoring, surgical assistance, sample collection and medication administration.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Adhere to SOPs for animal care and use.
  • Monitor animal health daily and report concerns.
  • Manage inventory of veterinary supplies and equipment.
  • Participate in facility inspections and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job description

We are looking for a talented Veterinary Technician with laboratory animal research experience. Candidates can look forward to helping set up and scale a focused research program in collaboration with a world-class team of scientists and engineers with diverse technical backgrounds. As a very early-stage company, we are looking for candidates who want to have a significant impact on the company’s progress with the opportunity for growth.

Role Responsibilities
  • In collaboration with the Veterinarian, handle the day to day veterinary care
  • Perform routine and specialized veterinary technical procedures including anesthesia monitoring, surgical assistance, sample collection, and medication administration
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
  • Adhere to the institutional standard operating procedures (SOPs) for animal care and use
  • Monitor animal health daily and report any concerns to the Veterinarian
  • Manage inventory of veterinary supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels
  • Participate in facility inspections and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Key Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in the research laboratory animal medicine setting.
  • Evidence of exceptional judgment and trustworthiness.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory animal regulations and guidelines
  • Proficiency in animal handling techniques for multiple species
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
  • Must be able to work a flex schedule to include one weekend day
Preferred Qualifications
  • Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG) certification
  • Veterinary Technician (RVT) certification
  • Experience with surgical procedures in animal models
  • Familiarity with GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) standards
Salary/Pay Range

Science is required under California law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. We determine your level based on your interview performance and make an offer based on the indicated salary band. The base salary range for this full-time position is $40 – $56 per hour + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by several factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please keep in mind that the equity portion of the offer is not included in these numbers.
