East Hartford Animal Clinic is seeking an Experienced Veterinary Surgery Technician to join a busy surgical team in a high-volume, small animal practice serving dogs and cats. The role emphasizes anesthesia, surgical assistance, and postoperative care in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Candidates should have at least one year of surgical tech experience, CVT/LVT/RVT certification preferred, and strong skills in anesthesia management, IV placement, monitoring, and client education.

Qualifications

• At least one year of veterinary technician experience with a strong focus on surgery and anesthesia.
• Strong knowledge of anesthesia induction, maintenance, monitoring, and recovery.
• Proficiency in IV catheter placement and venipuncture.
• Ability to maintain accurate anesthesia and surgical records.
• Experience with canine and feline wellness protocols and vaccination guidelines.
• Ability to stay calm in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for surgery including catheter placement and site prep.
• Monitor and adjust anesthesia to ensure patient safety during procedures.
• Track vital signs and respond to intraoperative changes.
• Assist veterinarians during routine and soft tissue surgery.
• Educate clients on postoperative care and medications.
• Maintain sterile instruments and a clean surgical suite.
• Collaborate with veterinarians and staff to ensure high-quality care.
