Job summary

East Hartford Animal Clinic, a Vetcor partner, is seeking an Experienced Veterinary Surgery Technician to join our high-volume surgical team. You will focus on anesthesia, surgical prep, and recovery for dogs and cats in a fast-paced hospital.

Qualifications

• At least one year of veterinary technician experience with a strong focus on surgery and anesthesia.
• Certification as a CVT, LVT, or RVT is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of anesthesia induction, maintenance, monitoring, and recovery.
• Proficiency in intravenous catheter placement and venipuncture.
• Confidence recognizing and responding to changes in anesthetized patients.
• Knowledge of canine and feline wellness protocols and vaccination guidelines.
• Strong technical nursing skills and exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and client education abilities.
• The ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Experience with electronic medical records and veterinary practice software is a plus.
• A commitment to exceptional patient care and continued professional development.
• Dependability, flexibility, and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for surgery, including catheter placement, intubation, and site preparation.
• Administer, monitor, and adjust anesthesia to ensure patient safety during procedures.
• Monitor heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and other vital signs during surgery and recovery.
• Maintain complete anesthesia and surgical records.
• Assist veterinarians during routine and soft tissue procedures.
• Provide postoperative nursing care and client education after discharge.
• Perform venipuncture, blood collection, and medication administration.
• Conduct routine lab and clinical procedures as needed.
• Maintain sterile instruments and a clean surgical suite.
• Collaborate with veterinarians and staff to deliver exceptional patient care.
• Support daily hospital operations while upholding high medical standards.
