Job summary

Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists is seeking a full-time Surgery Assistant for our Buzzards Bay, MA location. The role supports surgeons and nurses to ensure safe, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced veterinary hospital.

Key duties include preparing the surgical area, running pre-surgical blood work, and assisting with imaging while maintaining a clean, organized environment. Prior surgical experience preferred; NAVTA-credentialed education is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience in veterinary surgery or assisting in surgical settings.
• Ability to lift and restrain pets up to 50 pounds and be on your feet most of the day.
• Ability to learn veterinary software programs effectively.
• Strong organizational skills to balance multiple tasks.
• Attention to patient care and high level of professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Support surgeons and veterinary nurses in the operating suite.
• Run in-house pre-surgical blood work.
• Set up and clean the surgical suite.
• Sterilize surgical instruments.
• Restrain pets for procedures per doctor orders.
• Keep treatment areas clean, stocked, and organized.
• Assist with diagnostic imaging.
