Job summary

Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists is seeking a Veterinary Surgery Assistant to join our Buzzards Bay team. You’ll help prepare patients, instruments, and work areas for surgery, supporting surgeons and nurses throughout the day.

We value attention to detail, organization, and a collaborative mindset. Previous surgery experience is preferred, with opportunities to grow skills in a busy emergency and specialty hospital environment on Cape Cod.

Qualifications

• Must have veterinary surgery experience or six months in a veterinary hospital.
• Strong attention to detail in preparing equipment and assisting patient care.
• Excellent organization and ability to adjust priorities as needed.
• Clear, respectful communication with colleagues and clients.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons and veterinary nurses with patient care and procedures.
• Run in-house pre-surgical blood work as directed.
• Prepare and clean surgical suites before and after procedures.
• Clean, pack, and sterilize surgical instruments.
• Assist with safe patient handling and restraints for treatments.
• Help with diagnostic imaging.
• Keep treatment areas clean, stocked, and organized.
• Launder and restock patient bedding per hospital protocols.
• Cross-train and assist in other areas as needed.
